Jersey Description: One of Russia’s top ranked 2004 NHL Entry Draft prospects Mikhail Yunkov wore this #81 Away Soviet Wings jersey during the 2002-03 season, which was his rookie season. The jersey was initially worn by long time Soviet Wings forward Vladislav Bryzgalov, but after the club started to have financial difficulties, the veteran left the club in favor of another Super League club, SKA St. Petersburg 12 games into the season. After the exodus of many players due to the club’s lack of funds, the management called up the Soviet Wings hockey school’s students, who were most ready to fill in the ranks. Mikhail Yunkov was one of the first called up. Due to the financial constraints, Yunkov did not receive a new jersey, but Bryzgalov’s name plate was unceremoniously ripped off from the jersey, and Yunkov’s was sewed on in it’s place. There are visible marks on the jersey where the old name plate was ripped off before Voloshenko’s was sewed on. He skated in his first professional hockey game on February 22th, 2003 against Metallurg Novokuznetsk. Yunkov skated in 7 regular season games for the Soviet Wings during 2002-03 season, wearing this jersey during the away games.

The jersey shows medium level of wear, with stick marks on the body and the sleeves and also a couple of rips on the sleeves. The "Ochakovo Pivo" (Ochakovo Beer) ads are sewed onto the back and front of the jersey. Below, please find the photograph of two other players from the Soviet Wings taken during the 2002-03 season.
This jersey will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (COA).
