Russian Super League - Artem Ternavsky (Washington Capitals) returned to the Super League today after signing a deal with Metallurg Novokuznetsk. The 24 year old defenseman spent the 2006-07 season in the High League (Russia 2) with HC Gazovik (Tyumen), where he skated in all 56 regular season games, recording 15 points (3+12), 78 PIM and a +1 rating. It is unclear what Metallurg’s plans are with the menacing 6’2 and 220lb defenseman, but he will likely give his club better physical presence on the ice.
Defenseman Artem Ternavsky (Washington Capitals) signed a contract with the High League’s (Russia 2) Torpedo Nizhni Novgorod. The young blue liner split the 2003-04 season with Metallurg Magnitogorsk and Salavat Yulayev, skating seven games for Metallurg’s in a marginal role, and skating another 12 games for Ufa in a more prominent second pairing role. Ternavsky will likely be Torpedo’s top pairing defenseman in the coming 2004-05 season.
