Montreal wants Ovechkin copy

2012 National Hockey League (NHL)

Montreal Canadiens are teased to go for their Russian fourth round pick, Alexander Avtsin (Montreal Canadiens) already for the upcoming season.

At least if you are to believe Trevor Timmins, the club’s Director of Player Recruitment and Development.

- I think he is already ready to play in North America. Maybe not in the NHL directly, but in Hamilton they already wait for Avtsin, he said to the Montreal newspaper "La Presse".

Timmins compares the 6-foot-3 Russian to Alexander Ovechkin (Washington Capitals).

- He reminds of Ovechkin. He is quick, has good technique and is not afraid to challenge. He has a great potential.

Avtsin comes just like Ovechkin from Dynamo Moscow's system, but so far he played only for the development team in the Russian First League, where in the last season he scored 54 goals and 110 points in 76 games.
Avtsin himself has Ovechkin as a great role model.

- I want to be like Ovechkin, he says to the Montreal home page and also says that he loved to get drafted by a team with such a big tradition. He also appreciates that there are other Russians on the team.

- It will make it easier to me to adjust to the life there and within a year I expect to have moved over.
