Sibir's Vladimir Tarasenko opened the dancings on a powerplay at the fourth minute of play. Top ranked defenseman Dmitri Orlov made it 2-0 five minutes later, again with Russia with the man advantage. The Swedes cut down the lead at the fifteenth minute with Hampus Gustafsson, but a taller by Anton Burdasov two minutes later restored the two-goal lead on the Russian side.
